Shikari Mentoring Services

Deer are the teachers of Trailing

Experience the power of coyote mentoring! Enhance your personal nature
awareness learning journey with our customized mentoring services. This
experience is also recommended for those who would like to utilize coyote
mentoring in their community – and the best way to learn how to do this is to
experience it firsthand!

Work one on one with a personal mentor from the Shikari Tracking Guild
through a powerful combination of phone coaching and email services
that guide you through techniques for deeply experiencing and learning
about the ecology of your own home area. Our mentors seek to take you to the
edge of your awareness and beyond and offer effective strategies for learning
and experiential research into the realms of wildlife tracking, nature
observation, and holistic awareness. This program will begin in November 2008.
Please check back to this page for enrollment information as it becomes
available at the end of October or beginning of November.

How does it work?

Receive two half hour long personal coaching calls every month with a dedicated
mentor from the Shikari Tracking Guild. Email your journals and reflections to
your mentor for a detailed follow-up during your next training call. Your
mentor will offer a series of awareness techniques for you to explore in
between calls and will guide you into a powerful experience of nature
connection through the process of coyote mentoring.

Enjoy two special group conference calls every month:

Join Jon
Young for an exploration of proven routines and methods for deepening nature
connection.

Join Mark Morey and special guest trainers from the
Art of Mentoring for a journey into the realm of effective mentoring techniques
that can enhance both your own learning journey and your ability to be a mentor
for others.

Mentoring participants also enjoy access to the membership portion of
JonYoung.org, which includes special audio downloads as they become available.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do I need to dedicate to this each week?

If you can make the time available for a few hours outside each week
(whether in small chunks of time here and there, or just one or two larger
chunks of time) that would work just fine. A little bit of time for journaling
each week is helpful, too. We can help you to maximize your learning experience
no matter how busy you are.

How technologically savvy do I need to be in order to do this?

If you can email us a journal, that’s all it takes. Some people choose to
make copies of their journal pages and snail mail them to us. If you have a
digital camera and can email photos, we will weave that into the training.
There are also some other neat “techie” tools that we often make use of to
enhance the learning process - for those who can go that route. Essentially all
you need, though, is a phone and the ability to email.

How does this different from or complement the Kamana Naturalist Training Program?

The personal coaching aspect of Mentoring Services allows us to work very closely with the needs of each participant. This allows us to tailor the mentoring experience to focus on YOUR
experience, learning style, and to ask focused questions about the place where
you live based on your training goals and interests.

Of course we highly recommend the Kamana program and can easily weave our
training to complement your Kamana (or post-Kamana) journey. Mentoring services
helps deepen the Kamana experience, and takes those who have completed Kamana
even further. This service is based on the root mentoring philosophy that inspired the creaton of Kamana.

How does the Shikari Tracker Training Program relate to this?

For those who have experienced coyote mentoring and  nature awareness
training, and who wish to further develop their holistic wildlife tracking
skills, we can customize the mentoring experience to help you on your journey
through a guided experience of the methods outlined in Animal Tracking Basics, and beyond, into the core curriculum of
the Shikari Tracker Training Program.
The program has switched from written form to this live phone training format,
as we have found it to be much more effective in helping participants to boost
the learning curve in this ancient art.
